Junior forward Haley Crossley (Warminster, Pa.) made her sixth appearance on the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Report with her fourth Honor Roll recognition of the season (Nov. 15, Dec. 13, Jan. 31, Feb. 14). Crossley recorded her 12th and 13th double-doubles of the year as she averaged 16.7 points per game (PPG) and 13.3 rebounds per game (RPG) during Gwynedd Mercy University’s 1-2 week of league play. She has now recorded a double-double in eight of her last 10 games and made three straight AEC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Rolls.

A three-headed monster of Crossley, sophomore guards Lynzie Eggers (Turnersville, N.J.) and Ava Casale (Sewell, N.J.) combined for 64 points as Gwynedd Mercy University (12-12, 6-5) collected their third straight AEC victory with Monday (Feb. 7) evening’s 80-61 win over Centenary University (NJ) (7-10, 0-8). Crossley continued her double-double streak, pairing her 21 points with a season-high 20 rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Two nights later (Feb. 9), AEC rivals exchanged quarters in the first half with Immaculata University (12-7, 5-3) taking the opening frame thanks to a fast start (8-0, 6:13) and a last-second three pointer, 17-14 (0:05), before Gwynedd Mercy University eventually responded from a 30-17 (4:51) deficit with a 18-2 run to intermission; 35-32 (0:13). Unfortunately, the Griffins could not carry their favor to the second half, where the Mighty Macs gradually pushed their lead back to double digits, 51-39 (4:08), clung to a 56-51 (0:00) third-quarter edge, and distanced themselves from Gwynedd Mercy University in the final frame of an 82-66 (0:17) final. Crossley finished with nine points, 10 rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

Saturday’s (Feb. 12) AEC action brought Gwynedd Mercy University to league-leader Marymount University (13-7, 8-1), where the Saints needed an extra frame to retire the Griffins. Junior guard Elise Sylvester (Pottstown, Pa.) may have found Crossley for the last basket of regulation (82-82, 0:10), but it was Marymount University who needed to catch up as Gwynedd Mercy University owned a 26-16 (0:25) lead at the end of the first quarter, rallied for a 46-41 (0:00) halftime edge, controlled a 13-point, 64-51, advantage with 2:16 remaining in the third quarter, and a 15-point, 73-58 (7:58), with eight minutes to play in the fourth quarter. The Saints made their move soon after the eight-minute mark, outscoring the Griffins 24-9 in remainder of regulation, 82-82 (0:10), and 10-5 in overtime; 92-87 (0:04). Crossley finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and three steals.

Gwynedd Mercy University continues their AEC schedule on Wednesday, February 16, when they visit host Marywood University for a 6:00 p.m. regular season finale.
