GMercyU had more freshmen than expected this year, which led to some students being placed in a nearby hotel instead of traditional dorms. Andrew, one of the freshmen living there, said the experience was surprising at first but easier to adjust to than expected.
Nationally, only about 43% of full-time college students live on campus, so alternative housing like hotels is becoming more common. Andrew shared that hotel life comes with more space and quieter nights, but it can feel different from the typical freshman experience. Staying active on campus helps hotel residents stay connected to the Griffin community.
